What you will learn
In each class you will work on
one standard Ballroom and one Latin American dance with lots of
time to practice what you have learned. You will learn how to
recognize dances by listening to the rhythm of the music. The
basic patterns and sequences will get you started so that you
will feel confident to use them in a social situation. When you
have mastered the material covered in the Beginner’s classes,
you will be ready to progress to the Intermediate
level.
It is an excellent idea to
attend classes with a dance partner so that you can practice
your steps in between lessons, but it is not essential in some
classes. The classes are not large, so that
you are assured of lots of attention and support from your
instructor.
The DanceSport styles that you
will learn include: Modern Waltz, Slow Foxtrot, Quickstep,
Viennese Waltz, Tango, Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba and
Jive. In addition to these dances you will
learn Slow Rhythm (Social Foxtrot) which is a slower dance
developed from the Quickstep and Social Tango, a dance
performed in sequences to get you moving to this dramatic
music.
New Vogue dances are also
taught. These dances move in an anticlockwise direction around
the dance floor, are easy to learn and lots of fun especially
when performed with a crowd of people on one of the Social
nights.
Please
phone Kim if you would like to give some of her 2008
